About this place
Set in a quiet residential corner of Uzumasa, Kyoto, Okibi china crafts Chinese cuisine anchored by charcoal heat and seasonal ingredients. The signature crispy pork makes an immediate impression, setting crunchy crackling skin against succulent pork belly. From there, the table fills with unexpected combinations folded into dim sum: steamed soup dumplings filled with local Kamigamo tomato, a collagen-rich dumpling blending shark fin and trotters, or crisp spring rolls layered with king crab and sweet Shimonita leeks.
Carefully calibrated homemade seasonings build flavor beneath the surface, paired with wine selections curated by the owner-sommelier. The course moves naturally toward richer plates, from deeply spiced Sichuan mapo tofu served alongside steamed rice to fragrant fried rice straight from the wok, balanced to accompany wine well into the meal.
Desserts end the dining experience on a light note, highlighted by freshly baked egg tarts pairing crisp puff pastry with a silky, melted custard center, alongside jasmine tea cheesecake and rich annin tofu. With relaxed counter seating that invites conversation around each plate, reserving in advance is sensible when planning an evening visit.
